SuperBar is a group of 7 neighbourhood bars and pubs around Cape Town and the West Coast: The Richwood Inn (Richwood, Cape Town), Cheers on Oxford (Durbanville), DG's Village Pub (Richwood, Cape Town), Gull & Bell (St Helena Bay), Montego (Parow), Groundbar (Lansdowne), Hillrise (Kuils River).

What time do the bars open and close?

Our bars trade from 11h00 until 02h00, in line with our liquor licences. People sometimes arrive a little earlier or stay a bit later without drinking — for example for the Grandslots machines — but 11h00 to 02h00 are the hours you can count on at every venue.

Where are the venues?

You'll find us in Richwood, Cape Town, Durbanville, St Helena Bay, Parow, Lansdowne, Kuils River. Each venue is a local pub built around its own neighbourhood, so the crowd, the sport and the specials differ a little from bar to bar.

Do the bars show live sport?

Yes. All of our venues screen the big rugby, soccer, cricket and motorsport fixtures, and the line-up is planned week by week so the important games are always on.

Do the venues have Grandslots gaming?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our venues have Grandslots limited payout machines on site. Gambling is for persons 18 and older, winners know when to stop, and the National Responsible Gambling counselling line is 0800 006 008.

Our pubs are walk-in friendly. For a bigger group or an event, send us a message on the feedback page with the venue, date and rough numbers and a manager will come back to you.

Use the feedback page on this site. It goes straight to the operations team with the venue and date attached, so it reaches the right manager rather than sitting on a social media page.

We take applications all year round across 4 areas. Roles that come up most often are bartender, bar manager, cleaner, maintenance / handyman, supplier / tradesperson.

Do I need a CV to apply?

Accepted Answer

No. The jobs page asks for your name, a phone number, the kind of work you're after and where you can travel to. That's enough for a manager to call you.

How old do I have to be to work in a bar?

18 or older, because our venues are licensed and have gaming on site.

Do I need bar experience?

Accepted Answer

Not for every role. Cleaning and maintenance roles are a good way in and we train on the job — a lot of our bartenders and managers started that way.

Question 12

What are the shifts like?

Accepted Answer

Day and evening shifts, seven days a week, usually on a repeating weekly pattern so you know your days well in advance. Staff can request preferred days and days off before the roster goes out.
