Question 1

What is SuperBar?

Accepted Answer

SuperBar is a private operations platform supporting hospitality teams in the Cape Town and St Helena Bay areas. It is not a public directory of the bars involved.

Question 2

What time do the bars open and close?

Accepted Answer

Trading hours differ by bar. Please check with the bar you plan to visit for its current hours.

Question 3

Do the bars show live sport?

Accepted Answer

The public sport page shows fixtures selected by the operations team. Please check directly with the bar before travelling, as schedules can change.

Question 4

What should I know about gambling?

Accepted Answer

Gambling is for persons 18 and older. Winners know when to stop. The National Responsible Gambling counselling line is 0800 006 008.

Question 5

Can a bar show two different DSTV channels at the same time?

Accepted Answer

Not at all bars. A second subscription ran for years at one of our bars and was barely used, so the extra monthly cost could not be justified. You can still ask staff for a specific match depending on current demand — the main screens follow the featured fixtures on the sport page, and staff can switch channels between games if the room agrees.

Question 6

Can I ask for a specific match to be put on?

Accepted Answer

Yes — ask the staff on the day, or send the request through the feedback page with the bar name, date and match. Popular requests help the operations team choose the fixtures listed on the sport page.

Question 7

Can I book a table or a group?

Accepted Answer

Contact the bar directly for bookings. You can also use the feedback page and type the bar name, date and group size so the message reaches the right team.

Question 8

How do I give feedback or make a complaint?

Accepted Answer

Use the feedback page and type the bar name. Your message goes to the operations team for review and follow-up.

Question 9

Are you hiring?

Accepted Answer

We take applications throughout the year in the Cape Town and St Helena Bay areas. Roles that come up most often are bartender, bar manager, cleaner, maintenance / handyman, supplier / tradesperson.

Question 10

Do I need a CV to apply?

Accepted Answer

No. The jobs page asks for your name, a phone number, the kind of work you're after and where you can travel to. That's enough for a manager to call you.

Question 11

How old do I have to be to work in a bar?

Accepted Answer

You must be 18 or older to work in a licensed venue with gaming on site.

Question 12

Do I need bar experience?

Accepted Answer

Not for every role. Cleaning and maintenance roles are a good way in and we train on the job — a lot of our bartenders and managers started that way.

Question 13

What are the shifts like?

Accepted Answer

Day and evening shifts, seven days a week, usually on a repeating weekly pattern so you know your days well in advance. Staff can request preferred days and days off before the roster goes out.
